The San Jose Sharks starts off their season as they played in Colorado last Thursday night. However, there seems to be nothing that can relieve the disappointment of the team yet.
The Sharks suffer a lot from the last season?s turn of events. The team with the second most number of goals for the previous four seasons was defeated by Anaheim and was not able to proceed to the second round of the game.
Dan Boyle, defenseman of Sharks, mentioned that there is no used talking about playoffs as of now since there are still 82 games to go. This disappointed tune is already evident to Boyle who just spent a year with the team. The frustration is even swelling up for other members who already experienced to be part of the team that rank second in the most number of points for the last four seasons.
Doug Wilson, Sharks general manager, said that there are lots of things that the team needs to work on to ensure that the same event as last season will not happen again. He also added that being hit once is not bad at all and can even encourage more strength and enthusiasm for the team.
Joe Thornton, Sharks center, admitted that the loss was tough for the team. He further added that they used to look forward for the playoffs before but they cannot get pass through the first round this time.
Todd McLellan, Sharks coach, experienced the same setback when he was still an assistant back with the Detroit Red Wings during the 2005-2006 season. The Red Wings lost to Edmonton on their sixth game during that time but eventually looked for a way out of the dud and won the Stanley Cup after a year.
With McLellan around, Sharks find an easier way to cope with the situation. He is following the same lessons he learned from the letdown he experienced with Detroit.
Thornton said that it is a good thing for the team to have McLellan with them since he is doing a lot in refocusing the team and getting ready for the next season.

FRISCO, Texas ? On Saturday night FC Dallas and Real Salt Lace has had it which gave Dallas a 3-0 win. This is also the day for Jeff Cunningham because he had his fourth multi-goal of the season and was instrumental in winning this game.

Real Salt Lake has now a record of 9-11-7. They are still three points behind Chivas USA and New England and they need to level it off to give the slot for the final playoff spots as there are already three matches left. Real have consecutive loses in their last games.

During the fifth minute of the game, Dave van den Bergh made a pass to Cunningham inside the penalty area. Cunningham fired the ball into the right side of the net 12 yards away and made it. Van den Bergh was instrumental in this win because of his guts. He sent the ball from outside the penalty box and kicks it through David Ferreira. Ferreira left Nat Borchers, Real?s defender in awe and Ferreira made a close shot on the left corner and made it again. The score was now 2-0 even it was only on its 10th minute game.

Cunningham went on to destroy the Real Salt Lake when in the 87th minute he capped another right-foot blast over the penalty circle and made him a record for his 15th goal. With it he is now tied with Conor Casey, the Colorado forward for MLS lead.

FC Dallas has now a record of 8-12-6 and kept their 7-0 home wins against Salt Lake. Dario Sala, FC?s goalkeeper has also earned an impressive record earning a season-high six saves. He was able to make a diving stop during the 41st minute to stop the shot of Salt Lake?s defender Pablo Campos from making it into the 6-yard box. However, Dallas Captain Pablo Ricchetti was out of the game and actually not included among the team?s 18 players eligible to play.

There were over 300 elite athletes who gathered at Weyerhaeuser-King County Aquatic Center last April 2-4, 2009 for Speedo Junior Synchronized Swimming Championships. This assembly featured athletes with ages 15-18, who competed for Junior National Titles towards solo, duet, trio as well as team events and was anchored by Pacific Northwest Association or PNA. The PNA is composed of Kitsap Water Blossoms, Pacific Waves Synchro, Olympia YMCA Synchro Club, Port Townsend Pirouettes, Seattle Kaleidoscopes, Seattle Cascades Synchro Club and Seattle Synchronized Swim Team.

Santa Clara Aquamaids from Santa Clara, California will seek to carry home their 3rd successive Junior National Title subsequent to gathering high point honors in the previous 2 years. Among the top challengers are Walnut Creek Aquanuts from Walnut Creek, California who ranked 2nd place this previous year, and 2006 Junior National Champions ? Riverside AQuettes from Riverside, California.

Top routines go forward to the 2009 US National Championships that which was held last April 30 to May 2 at Stanford University. The event was conducted at Avery Aquatic Center where over 100 elite athletes competed for National Titles towards solo, duet as well as team events. The 2009 US National Championships marked as the 64th year of the national competition in duet as well as team events. It is also the 60th year for the solo competition.

Stanford University is used to conducting US Synchronized Swimming because it already hosted the previous 2006 US Collegiate National Championships as well as the earlier 2004 US National Championships.

Synchronized swimming is probably much harder than other related swimming divisions. This is because the type of activity necessitates a mixture of strength, precision, elegance and teamwork. The sport is regarded as a result of swimming, dance and gymnastics. These factors are needed in order to come up with a stunning and graceful routine.

The light middleweight Kassim Ouma (26-6, 1, 16 Knock Outs) was stopped by Gabriel Rosado (11-3, 6 Knock Outs). He was defeated in a 10-round split decision. The final scores were 97-93, 96-94 and 96-94. Due to Rosado being an excellent fighter, the fight that occurred was not a shocking a defeat. In fact, Rosado is just entering the prime of his career.

The 30-year old Kassim Ouma has not looked good in the ring since beating Kofi Jantuah four (4) years ago in 2005. And after the game, Ouma had been beaten three consecutive times by Rosado.

The beating given by Rosado to Ouma has shaken him from his knockdown. At the start of the game, it was thought of that Kassim ?The Dream? Ouma of Kampala Uganda is to wage war against ?King? Gabriel Rosado of Philadelpia, PA. Ouma is considered to be at the crossroads of his career and needs to beat Rosado to get back in the rankings. It was disappointing to Ouma when he was stopped by Rosado when the game was held on April 24th, 2009.

After Ouma losing the game against Rosado, Ouma needs to sit down and ask himself if he would still want to continue his career. After Ouma losing four of his last five fights, it might be time to hang them up.

Ouma beat Verno Phillips by unanimous decision in 2004 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, which captured himthe IBF light middleweight title. In 2005, he successfully defended his title for the first time beating Kofi Jantuah by a 12-round unanimous decision. However, in the same year as well, he lost his title to Roman Karmazin by a 12-round unanimous decision. After his loss, he went to win four fights in a row including a victory in 2006 over undefeated Sechew Powell. Powell was a former national Golden Gloves light middleweight champion. This was when he moved to middleweight but lost to Taylor by a 12-round unanimous decision in 2006 too. He was bullied around the ring and peppered with punches by Taylor. And now, he has lost four of his last five fights.

Danbury High?s The Hatters smashed Darien High?s The Blue Wave in a volley match that would keep the latter from making a huge leap towards the much coveted championship of the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The match was heart-stopping though. The Blue Wave nearly halted the Hatters? advance.

The Hatters displayed a furious display of athletic performance as they rushed to conclude the first two sets with a massive win over their rivals. The third set, however, nearly proved fatal for Danbury for their dismal loss exposed their vulnerabilities. The Darien boys restored their confidence and morale with a dashing comeback in the third seriously putting Danbury into serious peril. The fourth might end up favorably to Darien.

The final set was decisive for both teams as they fought their way to victory. Ace players from Danbury high made stunning efforts to beef up their advantage. One of them was Janey, who led the team with an astonishing double digit record of 14 kills. Following closely behind was Daylon Wilkins with a whopping 12 kills. Janey also recorded 13 service points and four aces during the match. Wilkins augmented his performance record with equally commendable record of 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 10 digs. The third game was dangerous enough to rob them of their glory so they made it a top priority to launch a series of unmerciful attacks on Darien high to create huge advantage.

As for the Blue Wave, their spirits were revived after the humiliating defeat of their rivals in the third set. It was equally intense for them as well. They need to break into Danbury?s defenses and make a hard-hitting counter-offense. Blue Wave?s top strikers include Calder Billhardt with a double digit record of 10 kills followed by equally powerful middle hitter Eric Heberton with his 8 kills.

Despite their serious effort to turn back the tide, it proved to be too arduous for Darien. The gap in the two teams? scores in the 4th set was too great. The match ended triumphantly for Danbury.

You could say that pool and billiards are two very similar yet different games. There are many similarities and dissimilarities, as well as different rules and terminology. However, since it has the same roots, many of the popular terms used are common to many of the billiard pool games. Mastering the terminology is one thing that you would be required to do if you want to master the game. Check out some of the most encountered terms described hereunder.

Let us start with the “cue ball.” This term refers to the white ball that is used to make the connection between the stick or cue and other balls. This particular ball is made of different types of material such as ivory, phenolic resin, wood, and the like.

The “cue” is another term often used in connection with pool and billiard games, and this refers to the stick with which the balls are hit during the game. The cue is normally made of hardwood, though other materials have been introduced in the recent past, and the tip is made of soft leather.

When it comes to hitting the cue ball, you come across another term, which is “mushrooming.” This is what happens to the tip of the cue when it is used during a pool or billiard game for too long without “chalking,” which usually prevents this from happening. In between hitting one billiard ball and the next, one “chalks” the tip of the cue stick. This facilitates a smooth hit and ensures that the game is played without a hitch.

There is more jargon associated with pool and billiards, such as the “pocket,” which refers to the hole where a ball is hit. The “object balls” are the balls that are targeted by the player to be shot into the pockets. As we are speaking about hitting the ball, there is another term that needs to be mentioned here, the “aim spot,” which qualifies as the spot where the cue tip and the cue ball make contact.

Then there is the “bridge” or the place, which supports the cue stick while targeting the cue ball. There is either the “bridge hand” or “bridge stick,” depending upon the type of shot the player is planning to execute.

As you can see, there are many terms that you need to familiarize yourself with when you play pool and billiards. Such an effort will go a long way to prepare you for a winning streak in any type of billiard game. Mastering any game starts with learning the basics and this is the first thing you should. Perhaps you will even enjoy becoming an online, blast billiards player.

There are many ways to fish, Here I will introduce some fishing methods that I familiar with to you.

Fly Fishing
With fly fishing, various materials are used to design a very lightweight lure called a fly. Fish think the fly is an insect and they take the bait on, or just above, the surface of the water. It takes a little practice, but fly fishing is a pure and exciting way to fish.

Bait Casting
Bait casting is a style of fishing that relies on the weight of the lure to extend the line into the target area. Bait casting involves a revolving-spool reel (or “free spool”) mounted on the topside of the rod. Bait casting is definitely an acquired skill. Once you get the hang of the technique (check out the casting animation), you will be casting your lures right on target into the structures where fish are feeding and hanging out.

Still Fishing
Still fishing is a versatile way to go. You can do it from a pier, a bridge, an anchored boat or from shore. You can still fish on the bottom or off the bottom in ponds, lakes, rivers and streams for a variety of species. And you can still fish during most seasons and during any part of the day. Your equipment and the size of the hooks and bait you use depends on what kind of fish you?re after. But your best equipment for still fishing is patience. You have to wait for the fish to bite.

Drift Fishing
Drift fishing allows you to fish over a variety of habitats as your boat drifts with the currents or wind movement. You can drift fish on the bottom or change the depth with a bobber or float. Natural baits work best. But jigs, lures and artificial flies will produce good results, too. You can drift fish on ponds, lakes, rivers and streams any time of the day and year.

The simplest answer is no. No city has hosted the current owner of Vince Lombardi Trophy (National Football League), Larry O’Brien/Walter A. Brown Trophy (National Basketball Association), World Series Trophy (Major League Baseball) and Stanley Cup (National Hockey League) in the same year. The closest any city has come so far is 1988 when the Raiders, Lakers, and Dodgers all brought championships to Los Angeles. Six other times, a city has hosted two out of four champions:

1956: New York Giants (NFL) and New York Yankees (MLB)

1971: Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL) and Pittsburgh Pirates (MLB)

1976: Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL) and Pittsburgh Pirates (MLB)

1999: Dallas Cowboys (NFL) and Dallas Stars (NHL)

2001: Denver Broncos (NFL) and Colorado Avalanche (NHL)

2002: Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) and Anaheim Angels (MLB)

2004: New England Patriots (NFL) and Boston Red Sox (MLB)

Students of sports history, however, are aware that these four trophies have not always represented “the” major leagues. There are the defunct competing major leagues such as the pre-merger American Football League or the World Hockey Association to consider. Also, the NBA was not always the major league in basketball, and other leagues have a good claim to being “the” major league for basketball at various times. Finally, we should at least consider the champions of the Canadian Football League considering the number of NHL teams from that country.

Broadening the definition like this adds relatively few cities to our list. Twice in the late 20’s three of four major league champions were from New York: the Giants, Yankees and Brooklyn Celtics in 1927, and the Yankees, Rangers and Brooklyn Celtics in 1928. The Brooklyn Celtics played in the American Basketball League, at a time when the NBA did not yet exist.

Other two-champion cities considering these competing and defunct major leagues are:

1930: Montreal Canadiens (NHL) and Montreal AAA (CFL)

1932: Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL) and Toronto Argonauts (CFL)

1942: Toronto Maple Leafs (NFL) and Toronto RCAF Hurricanes (CFL)

1944: Montreal Canadiens (NHL) and Toronto HMCS Donnacona

1947: Chicago Cardinals (NFL) and Chicago American Gears (NBL)

1947: Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL) and Toronto Argonauts (CFL)

1948: Cleveland Indians (MLB) and Cleveland Browns (AAFC)

1977: Montreal Canadiens(MHL) and Montreal Alouettes (CFL)

1987: Edmonton Oilers (NHL) and Edmonton Eskimos (CFL) Notes:

The Toronto RCAF Hurricanes and Montreal HMCS Donnacona were football teams from various armed forces bases which competed for the Grey Cup during WWII.

The Chicago American Gears were in the National Basketball League. The NBL merged with the Basketball Association of America (BAA) in 1949 to form the current NBA.

The Cleveland Browns started their history in the All-America Football Conference. The AAFC competed with the NFL for four years. In 1949 the AAFC partially merged into the NFL, the Cleveland Browns won the NFL championship the next year.

So while no city has completed what might be a “GrandSlam” of major league team sports, New York (twice) and Los Angeles (once) came close.

Two Penn State football players pleaded guilty Friday to a misdemeanor charge in connection with an on-campus fight last year, resolving the last of the major legal problems for current team members.Linebacker Navorro Bowman and defensive tackle Phil Taylor pleaded guilty Friday to a disorderly conduct charge in exchange for prosecutors? dropping more serious assault charges. If you are looking for Sugar Bowl Tickets or Rose Bowl Tickets you’ll find on gotickets site

?You?re never pleased to have to plead to anything,? said Taylor?s defense attorney Ron McGlaughlin. ?But from the standpoint that the matter is finally over with, I think it worked out appropriately.?

The players were sentenced to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service by Centre County Judge Bradley P. Lunsford, who gave the players a stern lecture about being role models.

Taylor, who will be a junior in the fall, and Bowman, who will be a redshirt sophomore, had been kicked off the team while their cases were pending.

Sports information director Jeff Nelson said he has not received any update that would indicate either players? status with the team had changed.

Bowman and Taylor are among a number of Penn State football players who have been charged over the last year in connection to assaults.

?A lot of kids look up to them,? McGlaughlin said, recounting Lunsford?s talk. ?When they act or engage in problems they obviously cause more problems than they realize.?

Bowman?s attorney, Stacy Parks Miller, said her client is eager to move on.

?My client?s pleased to put this behind him, get on with his life, play football again and get back to school,? Miller said.

Although authorities said more than a dozen players were seen on video surveillance near the altercation, police ultimately charged three players with beating a Philadelphia man who was attending a party at the campus student center Oct. 7.

The former Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys player who was the most accurate in NFL history and was once called an ?idiot kicker? by Peyton Manning for comments he made on Canadian TV took part in the first Toronto Argonauts practice of the season Sunday.

The day before, he signed with the team that helped propel him to stardom in 1996. More than a decade after leaving the Argos for the fame and fortune of the NFL, Vanderjagt was thrilled to be back.

?Toronto was the front-runner, regardless of what NFL team called,? said Vanderjagt, who won back-to-back Grey Cup championships in his only two full CFL seasons. ?I really wanted to come to Toronto, more than anything else.?

Vanderjagt wasn?t ready to leave the sport despite an ignominious departure from the NFL in November 2006. He was cut from the Dallas Cowboys after missing a pair of field goals against the Colts.

?When you fish and golf enough and you?re only 38 years old and you feel you can still do it,? Vanderjagt said. ?I miss the area and I miss my family and friends. It became a good opportunity, assuming Toronto wanted me, to be able to kick for a few more years.?

Vanderjagt led the NFL in scoring in 1999 and kicked 42 consecutive field goals in 2003-04, the longest streak in league history. Vanderjagt made 86.5 per cent of his field goals?tops in the NFL among kickers with at least 100 attempts?and made the Pro Bowl in 2004.

Vanderjagt also lashed out at head coach Tony Dungy and quarterback Peyton Manning following a 41-0 playoff loss to the New York Jets in 2002.
